Client Background: A large UK supermarket chain, established in the 1990s, with over 2,000 stores across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, employing over 80,000 people. Its annual sales consistently rank among the top in the UK retail industry, making it one of the most influential supermarket brands in the country.
Scale of Use: The supermarket chain has over 8,000 ABS commercial equipment units in its stores.
Project History: The UK has a variable climate, with cold, wet winters and mild, humid summers. Frequent opening and closing of supermarket entrances and exits exposes the equipment to temperature and humidity fluctuations. Furthermore, the high frequency of use at supermarket checkout counters places extremely stringent requirements on the equipment's dust and moisture protection, as well as its stability during long-term continuous operation.
To meet the client's needs, we recommended a series of commercial equipment with a metal chassis and excellent heat dissipation. This series features a robust design, suitable for the high-intensity checkout environment of supermarkets. We collaborated with the client to complete multiple rounds of high and low temperature, dust and moisture protection, and continuous operation stress tests. To comply with HMRC (Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs) checkout compliance requirements, we integrated a local tax interface into the equipment, ensuring seamless integration with the client's self-developed ERP and membership management systems. The prototype underwent six months of on-site verification at multiple regional stores, and the system's stability and after-sales response speed were highly recognized by the customer.
In 2021, both parties officially signed a bulk order for over 8,000 ABS commercial equipment units. Through this long-term cooperation, we helped the supermarket continuously optimize its store operational efficiency, and the two parties established a deep strategic partnership, thereby expanding the possibility of future cooperation in other retail markets in Europe.
